S18125 - Covellite with Quartz - $3750
Leonard Mine, Butte District, Silver Bow Co., Montana
Overall Size: 2.7 x 2.7 cm
This is an unusually fine and superb display of metallic, blue-black covellite crystals. They are bright, iridescent crystals in absolutely pristine condition. They are not your typical beat-up blades of covellite! They are also nicely exposed and well separated for a vein filling sulfide. This piece was likely extracted during the 1970’s, and eventually ended up in the collection of Al McGuinness, accompanied by his label and a bit of interesting history of collectors trying to get the piece. If tilted slightly it measures 3.3 cm without damage.
