This is a large (about 11 inches high) specimen of calcite from Metaline Falls, Washington. It is a lot more well formed than most others and contains roughly 50 disc-shaped crystals to 9 cm long over white palygorskite incrusted matrix. But of course, what makes this specimen special is it comes from the northwestern United States where aesthetically formed calcite groups can be fairly rare in this size and quality. This is a MAJOR PIECE by museum standards and probably belongs in one of these institutions. I cannot imagine better.
